"We're going to the chapel and we're going to get married...LEGALLY!"
I cannot even believe that 2 days ago Bess got down on one knee and asked me to marry her. Can this be happening? I think that for the past 48 hours that is the only thing that I have been thinking. How in the world do I deserve such an amazing friend, partner and soul-mate? What many of you may not know is that while our engagement became official on January 7, 2011, Bess actually sang and played "As Time Goes By" to my on her mother's piano on New Year's Day. We didn't want to tell anyone because we are both traditional women who wanted the "down on one knee" and "diamond ring" tradition. I feel so grateful to have two beautiful memories of the day we began our life together. It almost feels like a dream and some times I have to pinch myself to believe that this is really happening to us. We have been together for 3 years on January 24th and look forward to many more years to share together.
Many have asked about the date and wedding details. So, to set the record straight...we have no idea when or where we are going to have this amazing wedding. However, since we are fortunate enough to have 5 states that legally recognize gay marriage, we will be have a legal ceremony in Washington D.C. Now, that ceremony date is still up in the air as well, but it will be at least 6 months prior to our ceremony in Texas. We want all of our family, friends and closest supporters to be by our side on our big day, so rest assured everyone will know when we make our decision.
One exciting bit of news is that we will be taking a tour of the first possible ceremony and reception site on Friday. The Belltower Chapel and Garden in Fort Worth caught our eye and we fell in love. We are being patient and hoping that all the tough decisions from wedding decor to cakes can come as easily as possible. :)

My hope is to keep everyone abreast to any details that come up on our upcoming nuptials. As always, that you for all the love and support. Nothing means more to us both than the kind words and well wishes of those that mean the most to us.
